Analysis of main application of retention and filtration aid in papermaking

Paper retention and filtration aid is a water-soluble organic polymer with branched chain structure. Its function is to increase the retention rate of pulp on the web, and has better retention effect on fine fibers and fillers (calcium carbonate, titanium dioxide, kaolin, etc.), and the pulp saving effect is better. Strengthen the water filtration, reduce the dehydration energy consumption in the process of forming, pressing and drying.

Product Application:

1. Cationic polyacrylamide is a commonly used retention agent in the paper industry, but granular flocculants cannot be directly added to wastewater. Before use, it needs to be dissolved in water and treated with its aqueous solution.

2. The water that dissolves the particles to help retain the filter aid should be clean (such as tap water), not sewage. Water at room temperature is OK, generally without heating. When the water temperature is below 5℃, the solution is relatively slow. With the increase of water temperature, the dissolution rate is accelerated, but the degradation rate is accelerated above 40℃, which affects the use effect. In general, tap water is suitable for the preparation of polymer solutions. Strong acid, strong alkali, high salt water should not be prepared.

3. It is recommended that the concentration of cationic polyacrylamide solution is 0.1% to 0.3%, that is, 0.1g to 0.3g of polymer is added to 1 liter of water.

Main uses:

1. Used to increase papermaking performance, increase the dry and wet strength of paper. When polyacrylamide is added in the papermaking process, the wet paper tension of the paper can be increased by 10 to 20 times, and the dry paper tension can be increased by 50%. Mainly used in kraft paper, map paper, advertising paper, photo paper.
